A               Community               College               is               a               great               cost-saving               alternative               to               a               traditional               four-year               institution               for               students               that               want               to               prepare               for               a               career               or               who               starting               their               four-year               degrees.

All               of               the               community               colleges               in               the               Pittsburgh               area               offer               a               two-year               associate               degree               programs               with               credits               that               are               transferable               to               most               major               four-year               colleges               and               universities               both               in               Pennsylvania               and               throughout               the               United               States.

There               are               four               community               colleges               located               in               the               Greater               Pittsburgh               Area.

Community               College               of               Allegheny               County               (www.ccac.org)
               The               main               campus               of               the               Community               College               of               Allegheny               County,               more               commonly               known               as               CCAC,               is               located               on               the               beautiful               North               Shore               within               walking               distance               of               both               PNC               Park               and               Heinz               Field.

There               are               also               branch               locations               in               Monroeville,               North               Hills               and               West               Mifflin.

In               addition,               college               centers               are               located               in               the               following               communities:
               Bethel               Park,               Braddock,               Downtown               Pittsburgh,               Homewood-Brushton,               Washington               County,               and               West               Hills.

CCAC               offers               over               170               courses               of               study               designed               for               students               seeking               a               two               year               degree               and               for               those               students               planning               to               continue               their               education               at               a               four               year               institution.

The               current               enrollment               is               30,               217               including               the               main               and               branch               campuses               which               makes               CCAC               the               largest               community               college               in               the               area.
               Tuition               and               Fees
               The               tuition               at               CCAC               is               based               on               your               county               of               residence.

For               students               living               in               Allegheny               County,               the               tuition               is               $85.25               per               credit.

For               Pennsylvania               residents               that               live               outside               of               Allegheny               County               and               live               in               a               county               without               a               community               college,               the               tuition               is               $99.25               per               credit.

For               Pennsylvania               residents               that               live               outside               of               Allegheny
               County               and               live               in               a               county               with               a               community               college,               the               tuition               is               $170.50               per               credit.

For               out               of               state               and               foreign               students,               the               tuition               is               $255.75               per               credit.

Miscellaneous               fees               include               lab               fees,               technology               fees               and               graduation               fees               may               apply.
               Programs               of               Study
               CCAC               offers               over               170               academic               majors               in               many               areas               such               as               Applied               Arts               Technologies,               Applied               Services               and               Trade               Technologies,               Computer               and               Information               Technology,               Education,               Engineering               and               Science               Technologies,               Health               Careers               and               Social               Service               Careers.

Students               will               earn               an               Associate               of               Arts               or               Associate               of               Science               degree.

Certificate               programs               are               also               offered.

               The               main               campus               of               the               Community               College               of               Beaver               County               is               located               in               Monaca,               PA.

The               college               has               two               branches,               the               Aviation               Sciences               Center               and               the               Beaver               Technology               Education               Center               both               located               in               Chippewa,               PA.

The               main               campus               is               situated               in               a               beautiful               rural               area               of               Western               Pennsylvania.

With               a               student               enrollment               of               2,600               and               an               18:1               student               to               teacher               ratio,               CCBC               offers               students               a               personalized               college               experience               in               a               small               community.
               Tuition               and               Fees
               The               tuition               at               CCBC               is               based               on               your               county               of               residence.

The               tuition               for               students               residing               in               Beaver               County               is               $86.50               per               credit.

For               students               residing               in               Pennsylvania,               but               not               in               Beaver               County,               the               tuition               is               $173.00               per               credit.

For               out               of               state               and               international               students,               the               tuition               is               $259.50               per               credit.

There               are               additional               lab,               technology               and               other               course               related               fees.

               The               main               campus               of               Butler               Community               College               is               located               in               Butler,               PA.

There               are               three               branch               campus               locations               in               Cranberry               Township,               LindenPointe               and               Lawrence               Crossing.

With               a               student               enrollment               of               over               8,000,               Butler               Community               College               is               the               second               largest               community               colleges               in               Western               Pennsylvania.

The               majority               of               the               students               are               commuters               and               there               are               on-campus               dormitories               available               to               accommodate               350               students.
               Tuition               and               Fees
               For               students               residing               in               Butler               County,               the               tuition               is               $79.00               per               credit.

For               all               other               Pennsylvania               residents,               the               tuition               is               $158.00               per               credit.

For               out               of               state               and               international               students,               the               tuition               is               $237.00               per               credit.

Additional               fees               may               be               charged               based               on               course               selections.

               Butler               Community               College               offers               over               47               Associate               of               Arts               and               Associate               of               Science               degrees               in               the               following               areas               of               study:               Arts               &               Education,               Business,               Human               Services,               Nursing               &               Allied               Health               Technology               and               Transfer               Program               designed               for               students               planning               to               continue               their               education               at               a               four-year               college               or               university.

               Westmoreland               County               Community               College               (www.wccc.edu)
               The               main               campus               of               Westmoreland               County               Community               College               is               located               in               rural               Youngwood,               PA               which               about               6               miles               south               of               Greensburg               and               close               to               the               Pennsylvania               Turnpike.

There               are               branch               locations               in               Belle               Vernon,               Export,               Fayette               County,               Indiana,               Latrobe,               New               Kensington,               Smithton,               Latrobe               and               Waynesburg.

There               are               approximately               6,400               students               attending               WCCC               at               the               main               campus               and               branch               locations.
               Tuition               and               Fees
               For               Westmoreland               County               residents,               the               tuition               is               $76.00               per               credit.

For               Pennsylvania               residents               outside               of               Westmoreland               County,               the               tuition               is               $152.00               per               credit               and               for               out               of               state               and               international               students,               the               tuition               is               $228.00               per               credit.

Other               fees               may               apply               based               on               course               selection               and               field               of               study.

               As               you               can               see,               it               is               much               more               cost               effective               to               attend               a               community               college               in               the               county               in               which               you               reside.

Many               of               the               colleges               will               offer               county               tuition               rates               to               students               living               in               counties               without               a               community               college.

For               example,               since               Washington               County               does               not               have               a               community               college,               students               residing               in               Washington               County               can               attend               the               Community               College               of               Allegheny               County               at               the               same               tuition               rates               as               Allegheny               County               residents.

    Showtime's               crime               family               saga               Brotherhood               has               added               two               actors               to               its               cast:               Tony               winner               Brian               F.

    O'Byrne               and               West               Wing               star               Janel               Moloney.

    The               series,               which               enters               its               second               season,               returns               to               the               air               in               July.

    Brotherhood               tells               the               story               of               a               family               divided               by               politics               and               the               law.

    It               stars               Jason               Issacs               and               Jason               Clarke               as               Tommy               and               Michael               Caffee,               two               Irish-American               brothers               in               Providence,               Rhode               Island's               power-brokering               area               "The               Hill."               One               brother               is               with               the               state               legislature               and               tries               to               live               on               the               straight               and               narrow,               as               much               as               any               politician               can.

    The               other               is               recently               returned               from               being               on               the               lam               and               has               connections               to               local               organized               crime.

    Sometimes,               the               politician's               wheeling               and               dealing               isn't               so               far               remove               from               the               ex-con               brother's               activities.
                   According               to               Reuters,               O'Byrne,               2005               Tony-winner               for               his               role               as               a               priest               accused               of               molestation               in               the               play               Doubt,               will               play               an               Irish               mobster,               one               known               for               charming               his               way               in               and               out               of               things,               but               also               known               for               employing               violence               without               much               problem.

    O'Byrne               has               also               appeared               in               The               New               World               and               Million               Dollar               Baby.
                   Moloney,               best               known               as               Donna               Moss,               Josh's               girl               friday               on               The               West               Wing,               will               play               a               woman               who's               had               an               affair               with               the               politician               brother,               Tommy.

    Tommy's               character               is               a               married               father.

    His               wife               is               played               by               Annabeth               Gish,               who               also               appeared               on               The               West               Wing               as               President               Bartlett's               eldest               daughter.

    Moloney               has               also               appeared               in               various               tv               movies.
                   British               actor               Jason               Issacs               has               appeared               in               Friends               with               Money               and               Harry               Potter               and               the               Goblet               of               Fire.

    Jason               Clarke,               an               Australian,               has               appeared               in               many               Australian               productions               including               Rabbit               Proof               Fence.
                   Among               the               other               stars               of               the               series               returning               for               the               second               season               if               the               Peabody               Award-winning               drama               include               respected               actress               Fionnula               Flanagan               (Waking               Ned               Divine)               who               plays               the               family               matriarch,               Rose;               Ethan               Embry               (Harold               and               Kumar               Go               To               Whitecastle),               as               a               local               cop               and               family               friend;               and               Freddy               Chapman               as               the               mob               boss,               Freddy               Cork.
                   The               series               was               created               by               Blake               Masters.

    It               is               said               to               be               loosely               based               on               the               story               of               the               Bulgers,               two               Irish-American               brothers               in               Boston.

    Whitey               Bulger               is               an               alleged               mobster               currently               on               the               run               from               the               authorities.

    Billy               Bulger               is               a               former               Massachusetts               legislator               who               was               also               at               one               point               the               president               of               The               University               of               Massachusetts.
                   The               series               returns               on               July               9th.

    Deland,               Florida               is               one               interesting               place.

    It               is               foremost               a               college               town,               home               to               Stetson               University               and               its               famed               law-school.

    It               is               also               home               to               a               diverse               mix               of               people,               cultures               and               local               Florida               inhabitants.

    It               is               not               unusual               to               see               a               mix               of               cowboy               hats               and               purple-tinged               hair               walking               down               Woodland               Boulevard,               the               main               hub               of               the               historic               district.

    There               are               also               big               lakes               and               lots               of               undeveloped               land,               and               the               real               rural               towns               on               the               outskirts,               such               as               Samsula,               on               Route-44,               keep               Deland               nestled               away               from               the               general               public,               and               make               Deland               stand               out               as               a               diamond               in               the               rough.

    Once               in               town,               on               Woodland               Boulevard,               there               are               multitudes               of               hip               shops,               boutiques,               galleries,               antique               stores,               and               eateries               that               make               the               tourists               come               for               sightseeing,               shopping               and               dining.

    Deland's               historic               district               is               located               south               of               the               university,               traveling               down               Woodland               Boulevard.

    Here               one               finds               the               diverse               shopping               district,               and               many               19th               century               buildings               converted               into               modern               day               establishments,               where               people               work               and               live.

    There               are               banks,               museums               and               a               little               theatre               that               keep               this               town               traditional,               yet               the               variety               that               is               available               in               regard               to               Cuban,               Asian,               European               and               traditional               Floridian               cuisine               bustling               with               a               varied               lot               people,               make               this               small               southern               town               uniquely               refreshing.
                   Stetson               University               is               located               more               in               the               residential               section               of               town,               among               massive               oak               trees               that               shade               the               walkways               and               cover               the               campus               and               neighboring               blocks.

    The               suns               harsh               rays               are               partially               blocked               in               this               section               in               front               of               the               campus,               and               there               are               some               lovely               homes               around               this               part               of               town               that               show               of               a               southern               gentile               way               of               life.

    The               college               has               a               variety               of               programs,               some               themed               to               local               artists               and               Floridian               history               with               ongoing               exhibits,               so               there               is               a               mix               of               old               culture,               education               and               southern               uniqueness.
                   This               town               also               is               in               close               proximity               to               the               Volusia               County               Fairgrounds,               where               there               are               many               events,               from               dog               shows,               antique               markets,               and               more.

    When               there               are               events               at               the               fairgrounds,               the               town               also               becomes               more               active,               for               people               trickle               back               and               forth               from               place               to               place,               especially               in               regard               to               antiques.

    There               are               also               popular               festivals               that               draw               thousands               to               the               small               town,               from               the               pet               parade,               to               Hawaiian-themed               parties.

    During               the               themed               festivals,               many               people               dress               up,               and               it               is               especially               fun               to               see               pet               owners               dress               their               dogs               up               and               wear               costumes               as               well.

    Halloween               is               another               big               event,               and               Christmas               too.

    Shop               owners               keep               their               stores               open               after               hours               during               festivals,               and               the               public               comes               in               and               eats               the               food               that               the               shop               keepers               have               prepared,               for               free!

    If               one               drives               past               the               campus               to               U.S.-92,               there               are               many               popular               eateries,               drug               stores               and               gas               stations               as               well,               for               this               is               the               main               highway               back               to               Daytona               Beach.

    To               get               to               Deland               from               Daytona               Beach,               take               I-95               to               U.S.

    92,               and               from               New               Smyrna               Beach,               take               U.S.

    44.

    This               route               leads               right               into               the               heart               of               the               old               town.
